I am leaving the USA for 3 months so I was wondering if it would be possible to cancel my auto insurance for these months and not pay the monthly premium. I will not be driving the car for these months.
I am insured with Geico.

Thanks.

My friend is being positioned overseas for 3 years by his company. He has an older car that is paid off. He is allowing me to use it while he is away. I have to have it insured in my name but the car is titled in his name. He will cancel his insurance once I get mine. Can I get auto insurance even though the car title is in someone else’s name? I have no ownership in the vehicle.

I am comparing prices for car insurance. I have had State Farm forever. After talking to them and asking them what I should look for when shopping for car insurance is a policy that wont cancel you or raise rates if you have an accident. We have made claims in the past (storm damage and I hit a tree stump - no actual vehicle to vehicle accidents) and our rates have not gone up. Do other companies do the same? What about Traveler’s Auto Insurance?

I heard that auto insurance companies will cancel your policy, causing you to lapse, if they find out you are leaving them, is that true? I am planning on buying a new auto policy this week that will go in effect on Apr 1 and faxing in my request to cancel my current policy on that same day, am I safe?
